Behind the scenes - From Old to New Pt 1
I want you to get inside my head!
I thought you might like to see and read about some of the behind the blog scenes. As I am getting ready for my first cardmaking party of the year I want to use products from the new Occasions and Sale-A-bration catalogs, but I save myself some time by recycling an old layout.
I loved this cute card that I presented last February, but the Bear Hugs stamp set and framelits are retired, so I only use them for personal use, not for a paid event.
In this post, I am going to talk you through using one card's layout for another card's design.
Let's get started on how to break down a card design.
First, you need to determine what it is you want to duplicate and what is okay to change.
On my new card I want to change the card from a top opening to a left fold opening card. So, this means I will go from a horizontal layout to a vertical layout.
I know that I love this color combination of Pirouette Pink, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White. I will use the colors together again, but in a different arrangement.
Maybe something like this -
I love the tone on tone stamping on the original card so I am going to do a little of it on this new card.
Then for my feature stamp I am going to use the Playful Pandas which are available as a Free set during Sale-A-bration as a Level One gift with a $50 order.
More specifically I am going to use the Panda holding a sign. Do you see where I am going with this already?
This is my design process on this card to this point. I may decide to do some dry embossing on the Pink Pirouette piece to give it some dimension, but I haven't decided that yet. Often times I do some practice background pieces to decide if I want a little something on there or not.
I hope you have enjoyed "getting inside my head" as I design a card. My goal is to inspire you to take what you have to pull together a card that is based on one of my cards.
Check back on Saturday when I will show you the finished card and supply list!
